Traditional Thanksgiving food items weren’t all created equal – nutritionally that is. Roasted white turkey meat (without skin) is a great source of lean protein. Vegetable dishes (without added fats) are also very healthy. On the other hand, buttery mashed potatoes, white bread rolls, cream based dishes, and heavy gravy are all packed with fat and calories. Fill your stomach with the healthy items first – white turkey meat and plenty of vegetables. Then simply ‘sample’ the less healthy items in small portions. This is so easy to do, save you lots of extra calories, and you don’t have to feel like you are denying yourself, either.
Quit adding sugar to your cereal, tea, or coffee. For your cereal, you can add fruit and nut products to make it a powerful and healthy breakfast. As to tea and coffee, they mainly do one’s body more damage than good, with the exception of green tea. If you’d like tea or coffee to wake you up, you’re absolutely not eating for strength. It’s time to take a close look at your daily diet.
As for the Cocoa Puffs, I enjoy the chocolatey taste! I find that I prefer this flavor whenever I get a craving for chocolate! Finally, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch provides a more bran-tasting cinnamon flavor. It has a more robust taste, so i use this flavor more to wake myself up in the morning.
If you prefer a light breakfast drink, then a banana smoothie is the way to go. Milk is mixed together with mashed banana to create a healthy drink. My preference is to use non-fat milk as I find it mixes in the blender to a thicker mixture – be warned though – do not over mix or it becomes too thick. Add a few drops of vanilla to flavour.
The idea behind these milk and cereal bars is that you get the cereal, and in between, like in the middle of the sandwich, you get a “milk filling.” This provides the calcium and Vitamin D. Each one of the bars provides 25% of the daily requirement for Vitamin D and 25% of Calcium. Through the cereal part, you get between 15 and 35% each Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron, Riboflavin, Thiamin, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B6, Zinc, and Niacin. You get 15% of the daily phosphorus need and 50% of folic acid. These are all based on a 2000 calorie daily diet.
During your midday snack, you can munch on an apple or maybe a banana instead of cookies or chips. You can also turn some of your favorite fruits and vegetables into a healthy smoothie or shake.
You have to look after your energy. Negativity is catching and let’s face it with the current economic crisis there is a lot of it about. Start nourishing your energy levels if you are feeling down. Get enough sleep and eat proper meals. Once you have started to take some exercise, you will feel better.
Back to the title question. Why are you still fat? You know the risks and yet, you are overweight, for a variety of reasons. Yet you refuse to do anything about it. The problem relates to an action. You have to get moving, quite literally. And you have to cut out the fat. Once you understand that, you will be on your way. When will you start and what will you do? How can someone who has been fat for years change their habits? It’s not easy, but it can be done with a few baby steps. First, you have to admit there is a problem. Then you have to chose a course to follow. Try that baby step.
